CONFERENCE EXCURSION |
|
|
|
All
participants and accompanying persons are invited to take part to the
conference excursion on Wednesday 20 afternoon that will be dedicated
to the visit of the Chamerolles castle which houses a museum dedicated
to perfumes.
In 1992 the home of Lancelot of the Lake reopened after five years of
extensive restoration. Refurnished to recreate the atmospere which
reigned here at the time of its successive occupants, the
château
houses a unique collection of furniture and objects which retrace the
history of perfume and hygiene throughout the centuries. The
«
Promenade des Parfums » is a reminder and tribute to the
presence
of the numerous industrial perfum sites – including
prestigious
brand-names – which have set up in Loiret. In 1987, only
fallow
land and ditches remained of the Renaissance garden laid out at the end
of the 16th century by Lancelot II of the Lake (grandson of Lancelot I,
who built the château). Today it has recovered all its charm
of
years gone by. A garden with a pratical purpose as much as charm and
decoration, it has six flowerbeds. |
